Welcome to My Baby Basics
Baby and child-specific classes taught by Sharyn, a highly experienced registered nurse (and mum).
My Baby Basics has In-Home and Public Group sessions that are perfect for expecting parents, young families, grandparents, mother's groups, carers and baby sitters. Our sessions are presented in a relaxed family orientated manner facilitating open discussion and skill practice on our realistic and high quality CPR manikins.
You can either come along to our public session or, have Sharyn come to you on a day and time that best suits you!
Sharyn is the owner of My Baby Basics. She is a dedicated registered nurse with eighteen years of general and critical care nursing experience; six years having specialised in paediatric nursing. Her experiences as a mother of two, and her passion for paediatric nursing lead her to become a first aid educator and child safety for My Baby Basics.
Sharyn’s professional career began at Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in General Intensive Care. After a few years she transitioned to Paediatric Intensive Care at Sydney Children’s Hospital before furthering her skills in the Sydney Children’s Hospital Paediatric Emergency Department for several years.
Sharyn has completed various further education studies including:
Bachelor of Nursing
Graduate Certificate in Paediatric Nursing in Emergency
Advanced Paediatric Life Support
After some time off to move cities and have her two daughters Ella and Tilly, Sharyn is now back nursing. After a couple of years in the wards at the John Hunter Children’s Hospital, Sharyn is now working as a General Practice Nurse (when she’s not having fun with her girls and her husband Andrew!)
Sharyn is very excited to have the opportunity to head My Baby Basics. My Baby Basics offers a family friendly, baby and child specific, first aid and CPR education workshop in your home or at a public course near you. Servicing Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Central Coast, Nelson Bay and the Hunter Valley. She looks forward to sharing her passion, knowledge and experience in caring for babies and children with you.
Our classes cover the most commonly-faced serious incidents and illnesses a young child may face.
Each class is unique - it will follow the organic flow of discussion in the class, making sure you learn the most relevant information for the child/children in your care.
My Baby Basics wants caregivers to be able to identify when a child is unwell and how best to help them.
Most importantly, we want to help you prevent something happening in the first place!
